Let us pray: Lord God, whom angels ever serve, you alone can bestow favours and grant blessings. We humbly ask you to bless + these medals; grant that your servers, who wish to wear them as a token of their devour service at your altar may faithfully and reverently fulfil their duties to you, and so deserve at length to stand with joy at your heavenly altar and become sharers in your glory. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Blessing for Altar Servers, Sacristans, Musicians, Ushers

God of Glory, your beloved Son has shown us that true worship comes from humble and contrite hearts.

Bless our brothers and sisters, who have responded to the needs of our parish and wish to commit themselves to your service as (altar servers, sacristans, musicians, ushers).

Grant that their ministry may be fruitful and our worship pleasing in your sight. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

The Guild Promise

I offer myself to God almighty, to blessed Mary, our mother and to our holy patron, Saint Stephen. And I promise to do my best to serve regularly with reverence and understanding, for the glory of God, the service of his Church, and my own eternal salvation. Amen.

The Guild Prayer

O God, you accept our ministry and allow us to serve at your Altar; grant that while serving you we follow the example of our Patron, St Stephen, the first martyr, and that we may, like him, come to see Jesus standing at your right in heaven. We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son. Amen.

Prayer to St Stephen

Help us, we pray you Lord, to imitate St Stephen, your deacon, whom we venerate as the patron of your Guild. May we serve the Church with the same dedication and learn to love our enemies just as he prayed for those who persecuted him. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.

Direct we bessech you, O Lord, our actions by your inspiration and further them by you rcontinual help; that every prayer and work of ours may always begin from you, and through you be likewise ended. Amen.

Altar Server’s Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for allowing me to share in the service of your Altar. Help me to think of you more often and have a deep respect for you in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar. Give me the grace to follow you always and to be generous in serving you. Holy Mother of God, help me to serve your son faithfully; and help me to discover what he wants of me in my life and to have the courage to undertake it. Amen

Prayer for Vocations

God our father, you sent your son Jesus into this world and he in turn through the Holy Spirit sent the apostles to do your work. We ask you to choose priests, brothers and sisters who will give their lives willingly in your service. We ask this through Christ the Lord. Amen.

Before Serving
